I purchased an  iphone/ipad  and i don’t know the network the phone is locked on to and the phone is stuck at the connect to itunes screen and i don’t have the original network simcard or knowledge on how to create & Flash custom firmware files .

What Can i do too get past this Activation Screen to be able access the device function so i can at least use the phones other features even its not possible to unlock for now ?

Their are a few solutions to the problem and  i will elaborate more

  1. Most obvious one is to have a network simcard of the same network as the iphone or ipad is locked on to. So if i know that the iphone or ipad is locked on to Vodafone for example then after a firmware update on itunes i would need to have a vodafone simcard in the device to be able to gain entry to the device and will be able pass the activation on itunes.
  2. Create a Custom ipsu or Dmg Firmware which is already hacktivated using some special tools and these can only be used with Apple Mac computers and then flash this newly created firmware to the device so you can by pass the activation check all together. But this is not possible for all firmwares and not available for all Apple iphone and ipad firmwares and not the Latest 4.0 OS on the ipad or iphone 4 as those are too new and wont be supported for some time
  3. Use special Rebel activation by pass sim cards that dont need programming and  can auto detect the  network code settings to fool iphones or ipads in to thinking they have a same network in order to get past the activation screen.

First day iPhone 4 sales estimate: 1.5 million

Early estimates indicate that 77 percent of those who queued up for the iPhone 4 yesterday were upgrading from an older iPhone.

Reported waits of up to eight hours in line to buy the iPhone 4 Thursday indicated that first-day sales were going to be good. And while Apple has not yet announced official sales numbers, some Wall Street analysts have done some extrapolation based on interviews with customers at stores around the U.S. Thursday.

On Friday, Oppenheimer’s Yair Reiner did a little math to estimate that Apple may have sold more than 1.5 million iPhone 4s to date. He gets there by adding the 600,000 preordered units Apple announced last week, plus estimating 100,000 units sold to walk-in customers (guessing an average of 500 per store), 50,000 units sold to Best Buy (about 45 per store), and then doubling that number to include international sales.

There’s no way to know how accurate those numbers actually are–Apple doesn’t publicly disclose how many units are distributed to each store–but it seems plausible. Apple may release numbers sometime Friday, or it could wait until after the weekend, as it has with past product launches, to enumerate its total four day sales total.

Apple sold 1 million iPhone 3G units in the first weekend it went on sale in 2008, and 1 million iPhone 3GS unitsduring its first weekend available in 2009.

Separately, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster polled people queued up for the iPhone 4 Thursday and based on their responses, estimates that 77 percent of people buying a phone yesterday were previously iPhone owners and were upgrading.

“We spoke with 608 people in line for the iPhone 4 (Thursday) in San Francisco, Minneapolis, and New York.,” Munster wrote in a research note Friday. “The bottom line: 77 percent of new iPhone buyers were existing iPhone owners (upgrades), compared to 56 percent in 2009, and 38 percent in 2008. Apple is effectively building a recurring revenue stream from a growing base of iPhone users that upgrade to the newest version every year or two.

iPad users can’t switch micro-SIM card with iPhone 4

Those Apple iPad users investing in a newiPhone 4 may be disappointed to discover you won’t be able to share the smartphone’s micro-SIM card to get online.

In an new Apple FAQs the company states: “Are iPhone 4 and iPad micro-SIM cards interchangeable? No. Your iPad micro-SIM card will not work with your iPhone.

However, a spokesperson for O2, one of Apple’s partners for the iPhone and iPad in the UK, told PC Pro the devices are “quite different.”

Apple iPhone 4“Both use a mini-SIM, but the iPad micro-SIM is not, for example, provisioned for voice, and focuses on flexible data. The micro-SIM for the iPhone is set up for voice and other functionality.”

The iPhone 4 goes on sale next Thursday, 24 June in the UK, US, France, Germany and Japan, with reports that stocks may already be limited. Currently, O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Three and Tesco Mobile will all be selling the iPhone 4 at launch in the UK.

What’s the difference between a SIM and a micro-SIM?

Like a regular SIM, the micro-SIM holds your subscriber information for the carrier and is great for storing

Some History in the Development of the micro-SIM

The micro-SIM was developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute along with SCP, 3GPP (UTRAN/GERAN), 3GPP2 (CDMA2000), ARIB, GSMAssociaton (GSMA SCaG and GSMNA), GlobalPlatform, Liberty Alliance, and the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) for the purpose of fitting into devices otherwise too small for a mini-SIM card.

The form factor was mentioned in the Dec 1998 3GPP SMG9 UMTS Working Party, which is the standards-setting body for GSM SIM cards, and the form factor was agreed upon in late 2003.

The micro-SIM was created with backwards compatibility in mind. The major issue with backwards compatibility was the contact area of the chip. Retaining the same contact area allows the micro-SIM to be compatible with the previous, larger SIM readers through the use of plastic cutout surrounds. The SIM was also designed to run at the same speed (5 MHz) as the previous version.

The chairman of EP SCP, Dr. Klaus Vedder, said

“With this decision, we can see that ETSI has responded to a market need from ETSI customers, but additionally there is a strong desire not to invalidate, overnight, the existing interface, nor reduce the performance of the cards. EP SCP expect to finalise the technical realisation for the third form factor at the next SCP plenary meeting, scheduled for February 2004.”

Card sizes

SIM cards were first made the same size as a credit card (85.60 mm × 53.98 mm × 0.76 mm). The development of physically smaller mobile devices prompted the development of a smaller SIM card, the mini-SIM card. Mini-SIM cards have the same thickness as full-size cards, but their length and width are reduced to 25 mm × 15 mm.

The mini-SIM card has the same contact arrangement as the full-size SIM card and they are normally supplied within a full-size card carrier, attached by a number of linking pieces. This arrangement (defined in ISO/IEC 7810 as ID-1/000) allows for such a card to be used in a device requiring a full-size card, or to be used in a device requiring a mini-SIM card after cleanly breaking the scorings manufactured in the outline of a mini-SIM card.

Even smaller device sizes have prompted the development of a yet smaller card size, the 3FF cardormicro-SIM. Micro-SIM cards have the same thickness and contact arrangement again, but the length and width are further reduced to 15 mm × 12 mm. Automatic GSM diallers can be either be installed as software or as hardware.

This Demo shows how to use the Rebel Sim II Dialler v2 firmware in iphone 3GS which is a Hardware based Automatic Least Cost Routing Dialling System.

The hardware Rebel  sim II  dialler is a thin chip of a similar shape to a phone’s SIM that sits between the SIM and the phone.

A sim dialer allows users to use international calling card services through the mobile phone without changing normal dialing procedures.

Once set up has been Completed users dont need to worry about being charged Excessive Prices for international calls and the system Detects numbers that Start with 00 and routes the call automatically to your desired Calling service Access number.

In this Example we first obtained calling credit from a VOIP server like www.voipfone.co.uk  but you can any other voip or calling card provider of your choice.
Step 1

How Cut the Network Simcard Safely Using the Network Simcard Cutter

Step 2

Place the Rebel Sim ii with firmware v2 for Call through in the iphone 3GS simgate as show but if your using other phone models check the guide here on how to enter the rebel simcard II in other simgate styles

Step 3

Place some tape over the simgate so you can always remove safely. Tape is only advised for all iphone models only.

Step 4

Click on Settings and Then Phone then Sim Applications at the bottom of the Screen

In the Config Menu you can see the * Next to Enable by Default

Click on Editing Numbers and here enter you call through access number supplied by your Voip provider

Now click on Dialling Rules and Select the No 00 option as we want to automatically route all numbers through that start with 00 to save on international calls.

Now Configure the Dialler to Work for iphones. By clicking on Dialling Modes From menu Select ICC2 option

You are Ready now and as a demo we placed a called to a numbers that does not start with 00 and the phone call is not changed and goes through as normal

Now Place a call from your phone memory or dial on the keypad any number that starts with 00 and the Rebel Sim Dialler software kicks in and DOES not Let a Direct Call Take Place.

Instead the Access number is called and when the Voip access number sees the Caller ID of your phone it auto answers and supplied you with Dialtone to dial your number. The Rebel sim Dialler sends the Voip provider of the number you dailled via DTMF tones and they connect the call but so much cheaper.

Palm Pre baseband downgrade Tool how to Guide for Web OS 1.4/1.4.1

We found that many users who had purchased a Rebel Simcard II for Palm Pre phones have had to loose 3G functions due to Auto software updates from Palm like the 1.4.1  which restricts usage to 2G only.

As this is not due the Fault of the Rebel simcard II Palm Pre users as updates can happen without thier knowledge automatically.

You can use this Tool Free if you have a rebel simcard II and can downgrade the Baseband of the 1.4/1.4.1 Palm Pre Web OS and then have full 3G and network renewal functions enabled once again like it was on the 1.3.5 firmware.

Another option this software supplies you with is if you want to block out future auto updates of the Palm Web OS.

Step 1
Make sure Palm Pre is charged at least %50

Step 2
Download and Install Microsoft Framework 3.5 from here

Reboot PC

Step 3

Enable Developer Mode on the Palm Pre

There are now two ways known to enable the Pre’s dev mode.
1. Simply enter the Konami cheat code:

in either way, you’ll see a “secret” menu switch that allows you to enable the developer mode. After that reboot the device.

Do not connect to the the Pre to the PC yet

Click here to Download the Baseband Downgrade Tool

Step 5
Run the file you just downloaded and Extract the File in a directory on the PC like the desktop

Step 6
Inside the Directory you chose you will have 2 exe – Installer and preloader.

Step 7

Run it, hit install and it will prompt you to install novacom, after installation it will reboot the PC,

Step 8
Preloader:

after the PC has rebooted run the preloader, connect the phone, Let the novacom drivers automatically install,

Step 9
Connect the Phone
When drivers installed press “Start here”
and the process will start.

Step 10

Now the Applications will start doing its work
1 stage – copying the firmware to phone,

At the copy stage the software will stop responding, but if a high speed USB will be used then it will take 5 seconds, on a slow (USB HUB1.0) it will take about 1,5 minutes.

Step 11
Now application starts baseband downgrade process
2 stage – downgrading.

Downgrade process may halt with “Processing file..” then just close software and run it again. Its novacom bug.

Step 12

Additional Notes

After the modem is reboot users will see “Your device is ready for use” and at this stage you can click on the Next button to continue to disabling the auto updates if you wish to stop new updates taking place on the Palm Web OS.

Development is under way for all Palm Pre Rebel Simcard II users.

As you know the Automatic update to the 1.4/1.4.1 firmware works only in GSM 2G mode for users currently unless a Baseband Downgrade is performed which then allows full 3G functions to be used.

The current method requires technical expertise to be perform will soon become literally a 1 click process to perform.

This will be made available for all Rebel Simcard Users Free of Charge.

How to Unlock Palm Pre from O2 Telcel Movistar with 1.4.1 firmware

The new Palm pre firmware 1.4 has been released.


However Rebel sim II is not Fully Compatiable with 1.4 firmware unless some firmware modifications is made but Rebel Simcard II is still the only way to unlock the Palm Pre phones.

Users who upgrade to the 1.4 WEBOS firmware will not be able to use the 3G UMTS networks.  The 1.4 WEBOS firmware restricts the Rebel simcard II from being able to Generate Network Authentications keys due to the Modem Baseband software being updated by the 1.4 firmware.
