All IPhone 4 & IPad customers worldwide have a couple options to convert their existing sim card to micro size 3FF format.

A Break Down of the current option.

1 Cut using Scissors.

manually cuttting micro sim card

Use Scissors and Risk Loosing your Contact & SMS stored in the network sim card  and even worse is  having to be without a network sim card and loose ability of receiving / making calls/sms/mms while your mobile network send you a new network sim and often at a cost.

Tip to use is if you really want to use scissors and risk it then divert all you call to another number in case you damage it so you don’t loose incoming calls while awaiting a replacement network simcard.

You can use these USSD codes below  to set your divert option  if you cant find the menu in your phones so you don’t loose business or personal calls if you end up messing it up.

Set and Activate divert all calls to **21*DestinationNumber#  Then Press Call Button

Its worth noting that most mobile network only allows call diversion if you have a Post Pay account and the majority of users on pre pay networks cannot use this function to protect themselves from loss of  earning due to loss of calls.

The Rebel Sim Team Advise against taking any kinds of risks where you could break your sim and even worse loose your contacts and if you have not already backed up all data on your networks sims then stay clear from this option.

If you do realy want to do it this way then we advise you to purchase a Rebel Full Size programmer and use the software  supplied which can be used to Backup SMS & Contact Data from network sim cards or from the Rebel Activation/Phone book Card.

Rebel Pro Full Size Programmer with Professional Sim Adaptor

As a bonus you can also retrieve deleted sms messages that reside on the network sim as well as learn about network simcards and the see files and data that is held in a network sim and you can also use  the programmer to change or  update firmwares on the Rebel Sim 1 & II.

Option 2 Use a Rebel Micro sim Cutter to cut you sim in 3 seconds safely and reliably.

Simple 1 click to Cut & you are ready to use your favourite iPhone 4 or iPad with the your existing network simcard.

If you don’t like taking unnecessary risks or you have multiple network simcard to cut then the Rebel Micro sim cutter is a highly recommended. This will help keep your blood pressure down and keep your hair and nail intact as this tool is especially designed to do the job.

Do you Own an Apple iphone or Apple iPad ?

Well this will be a yes for many millions of people around the world. None of us like to wait & to obtain an Iphone or Ipad before its official release in the our home countries. Many of you would have asked a cousin or friend who lives in the country where the iphone or ipad is released first to purchase one and send over to you.

This is a great way to to get your hands on your favourite gadgets early. However thier are some things that are often over looked and this blog article will help you understands its benefits and pitfalls.

Benefits of Obtaining a Apple iphone or ipad from another country ?

Well you get to have one of the latest gadgets to use before others. You can be one step ahead and understand the latest technology on offer and benefit from the 1000’s of applications already available Officially from apple itunes store.

Pitfalls of Obtaining a Apple iphone or ipad from another country ?

This bit is really important if you purchase an locked device which is not Sim Free and can work with only one provider unless you use unlock software on higher firmwares like 3.0 3.1.2 & 3.1.3 & 4.0 or you can use the Permanent Official  itunes Factory Unlock for UK 02 or UK Vodafone.

The way Apple products work when it comes to firmware updates on itunes is a bit tricky. If you are using a Sim Free iphone 2G 3G or 3G then this does not apply to you, but if you are using a locked iphone 2G 3G 3GS  iphone 4 or ipad then we will show you how you can easily by pass the Apple products Activation Checks after firmware updates on itunes.

What to do when the inevitable happens & your  iphone  or ipad software crashes and you need to restore the firmware via itunes.

What all of you will have experience at some time or another is the iphone or ipad will crash and then you need to connect this to itunes to restore the firmware on the device.

Itunes will flash the iphone or ipad with either your choice of custom firmware if you keep hold of Shift while pressing restore or it will download the latest from Apple which you want to avoid as this will update the baseband software also and the chances are that unlock software will not be available for some time for that Baseband firmware.

Either way once you have updated the firmware then its nessasry to Activate the phone with a network simcard from the same provider its locked on to. This way its possible to get past the screen where it says connect to itunes and can then access the other features of the Device.

Question ?

I purchased an  iphone/ipad  and i don’t know the network the phone is locked on to and the phone is stuck at the connect to itunes screen and i don’t have the original network simcard or knowledge on how to create & Flash custom firmware files .

What Can i do too get past this Activation Screen to be able access the device function so i can at least use the phones other features even its not possible to unlock for now ?

Answer

Their are a few solutions to the problem and  i will elaborate more

  1. Most obvious one is to have a network simcard of the same network as the iphone or ipad is locked on to. So if i know that the iphone or ipad is locked on to Vodafone for example then after a firmware update on itunes i would need to have a vodafone simcard in the device to be able to gain entry to the device and will be able pass the activation on itunes.
  2. Create a Custom ipsu or Dmg Firmware which is already hacktivated using some special tools and these can only be used with Apple Mac computers and then flash this newly created firmware to the device so you can by pass the activation check all together. But this is not possible for all firmwares and not available for all Apple iphone and ipad firmwares and not the Latest 4.0 OS on the ipad or iphone 4 as those are too new and wont be supported for some time
  3. Use special Rebel activation by pass sim cards that dont need programming and  can auto detect the  network code settings to fool iphones or ipads in to thinking they have a same network in order to get past the activation screen.

Early estimates indicate that 77 percent of those who queued up for the iPhone 4 yesterday were upgrading from an older iPhone.

Reported waits of up to eight hours in line to buy the iPhone 4 Thursday indicated that first-day sales were going to be good. And while Apple has not yet announced official sales numbers, some Wall Street analysts have done some extrapolation based on interviews with customers at stores around the U.S. Thursday.

On Friday, Oppenheimer’s Yair Reiner did a little math to estimate that Apple may have sold more than 1.5 million iPhone 4s to date. He gets there by adding the 600,000 preordered units Apple announced last week, plus estimating 100,000 units sold to walk-in customers (guessing an average of 500 per store), 50,000 units sold to Best Buy (about 45 per store), and then doubling that number to include international sales.

There’s no way to know how accurate those numbers actually are–Apple doesn’t publicly disclose how many units are distributed to each store–but it seems plausible. Apple may release numbers sometime Friday, or it could wait until after the weekend, as it has with past product launches, to enumerate its total four day sales total.

Apple sold 1 million iPhone 3G units in the first weekend it went on sale in 2008, and 1 million iPhone 3GS unitsduring its first weekend available in 2009.

Separately, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster polled people queued up for the iPhone 4 Thursday and based on their responses, estimates that 77 percent of people buying a phone yesterday were previously iPhone owners and were upgrading.

“We spoke with 608 people in line for the iPhone 4 (Thursday) in San Francisco, Minneapolis, and New York.,” Munster wrote in a research note Friday. “The bottom line: 77 percent of new iPhone buyers were existing iPhone owners (upgrades), compared to 56 percent in 2009, and 38 percent in 2008. Apple is effectively building a recurring revenue stream from a growing base of iPhone users that upgrade to the newest version every year or two.

Those Apple iPad users investing in a newiPhone 4 may be disappointed to discover you won’t be able to share the smartphone’s micro-SIM card to get online.

In an new Apple FAQs the company states: “Are iPhone 4 and iPad micro-SIM cards interchangeable? No. Your iPad micro-SIM card will not work with your iPhone.

However, a spokesperson for O2, one of Apple’s partners for the iPhone and iPad in the UK, told PC Pro the devices are “quite different.”

Apple iPhone 4“Both use a mini-SIM, but the iPad micro-SIM is not, for example, provisioned for voice, and focuses on flexible data. The micro-SIM for the iPhone is set up for voice and other functionality.”

The iPhone 4 goes on sale next Thursday, 24 June in the UK, US, France, Germany and Japan, with reports that stocks may already be limited. Currently, O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Three and Tesco Mobile will all be selling the iPhone 4 at launch in the UK.

Automatic GSM diallers can be either be installed as software or as hardware.

This Demo shows how to use the Rebel Sim II Dialler v2 firmware in iphone 3GS which is a Hardware based Automatic Least Cost Routing Dialling System.

The hardware Rebel  sim II  dialler is a thin chip of a similar shape to a phone’s SIM that sits between the SIM and the phone.

A sim dialer allows users to use international calling card services through the mobile phone without changing normal dialing procedures.

Once set up has been Completed users dont need to worry about being charged Excessive Prices for international calls and the system Detects numbers that Start with 00 and routes the call automatically to your desired Calling service Access number.

In this Example we first obtained calling credit from a VOIP server like www.voipfone.co.uk  but you can any other voip or calling card provider of your choice.

Step 1

How Cut the Network Simcard Safely Using the Network Simcard Cutter

The decision to use an unusually small SIM card in the iPad means current iPhone customers can’t just use their iPhone’s SIM in an iPad, as we reported last week.

ipadIt appears increasingly likely that this decision was driven not by space considerations (after all, the iPad is much larger than the iPhone), but rather by AT&T’s business strategy. This way, they can charge customers twice for 3G wireless data: Once for the iPhone, and once for the iPad.

Gemalto, which probably makes the micro SIM card in Apple’s iPad, says OEMs might choose to use a micro SIM card because mobile operators set device requirements forcing them to do so. Gemalto couldn’t confirm that it was an Apple supplier, but according to Lok8u, the manufacturer of the only other micro SIM card device currently sold in America, Gemalto is the likely maker of the iPad’s SIM.

“We cannot speak specifically about our relationship with OEMs,” said Gemalto North America vice president of business development Jean-Louis Carrara.

But he was able to speak about the company’s micro SIM card clients in general, shedding light on Apple’s strange decision to use a smaller card in the large iPad device and a larger card in the small iPhone.

The main reason a manufacturer would choose micro SIM, also called 3FF, is to facilitate smaller cellphone designs, as has happened already in Europe, said Carrara.

However, he acknowledged that purely business reasons could play a role in a company’s decision to go with a format that’s all-but-unknown in the United States.

“If you look at where the micro SIM is being used today, it’s in those devices that have real space constraints, but it’s hard to envision a tablet to have that much of a constraint,” said Carrara. “Maybe it does. But it could also be a decision by some OEMs that they would prefer to have a [micro SIM] because it just makes sense with the way they want to run their business, or the customer segment, or the way they want to distribute their devices. We will see OEMs choosing [micro SIM] because they have a physical constraint, but it could also be because they want to have a card that is different than the plug-in SIM.”

No company that works with Apple can say much about it, and Apple and AT&T are themselves notoriously tight-lipped. There is no evidence that the smaller SIM was chosen as a concession to AT&T. But the circumstantial evidence suggests that it was not chosen because of the limited space in the iPad’s chassis.

Carrara agreed with our prediction that a certain segment of buyers will rebel against the purchase of a second wireless data plan by slicing their SIM cards so that they work both in their phones and the iPad.

“There is no difference between the functionality or design of a micro SIM card, when compared to a regular SIM card — the only difference is the size of the extra plastic surrounding the chip,” confirmed Carrara. “Cutting the plastic around [a SIM card] and putting it in a new device is not endangering anything. What it’s probably going to do is that people will probably not cut the plastic properly, and the contacts won’t match on the device, and therefore it won’t perform, but that’s not a problem. You can lose your SIM today and go to the operator and get a new one.

Feb 15

Rather, the additional memory on the chip for providers and account data and better control and security features. Or just the unusual, which has yet no one. And another point could also be in the discussion of the use of a micro-SIM to be included in new apple ipad: if up till now, hardly anyone – except AT & T and T-Mobile USA – MicroSim offer, then that’s iPad’s declared proudly, despite SIM-lock free, de facto but Provider-bound again.

Apple iPad
The Apple iPad has a capacitive touch screen at 9.7 inches and a resolution of 1024×768 pixels. The front consists entirely of the glass layer on the display, the back is made of aluminum. There are different versions of the iPad, 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory. Each version can also be purchased fitted with an optional 3G module. All variants are WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5-mm connector, TV out and digital compass in common. To provide the necessary power of Apple A4-gigahertz processor with a clock frequency. A permanently installed battery keeps the tablet with Apple OS 3.2 active under full power for about 10 hours. Camera and USB ports are missing, as well as eien Flash support, and multi-tasking ability.

Video review about New Apple iPad which would be release soon and available for sale online soon too:

Jan 25

Although Apple's official iPad photos don't show it, the iPad has a removable micro SIM card tray, similar to the SIM card one in the iPhone, which slides out from the top of the device (paperclip required).Steve Jobs’ bid to create a new product category with the iPad includes a new approach to connectivity: Wi-Fi with 3G as an (expensive) option. And the fact that iPad users will be able to buy data plans on a month-to-month basis, without contracts, is a welcome development.

But in other ways, Apple has squandered a delicious opportunity to add its weight to the open-carrier movement.

Not only has Apple extended its widely reviled partnership with AT&T, but it has pointedly made it difficult to bring your own broadband to the ostensibly unlocked device by swapping in the SIM card of your choice.

Instead of using the standard SIM card found in GSM phones around the world (including the iPhone), Apple went with the 50-percent smaller micro SIM format, found in only one other device in the United States: a children’s GPS watch.

It’s bad enough that mobile internet data plans are not interchangeable. You can’t tether your portable computer to your iPhone to use its 3G connection, even though that is a trivial technical matter (and AT&T has been promising to support this feature for months). Tethering your iPad to your iPhone? Don’t hold your breath for that one, either.

And while you can buy a family plan to share minutes and unlimited texts for your two or more iPhones, each still pays a separate, mandatory data fee which is about as expensive as a single home-broadband connection.

And now, iPhone owners will have to pay for a second data plan just to use their 3G iPads, which, to add insult to injury, resemble nothing so much as large iPhones.

Your small iPhone has a large SIM card. The large iPad has a small SIM card. Why, for the love of Steve?

In fact, two incompatibilities will keep your iPad stuck on AT&T: the SIM-card size and 3G frequencies.

First, the card. Nearly every phone available in North America that runs on a GSM network, including the iPhone, uses a larger, second-generation SIM card. It’s about twice as big as the micro SIM card (also known as a 3FF SIM) in the Apple iPad’s slot.

Any carrier, including T-Mobile, can make a micro SIM card using the same manufacturer that Apple used for the iPad.

Norbert Haas is the COO of Lok8u, the first company to ship a micro-SIM product in the United States — a watch that relays the location of children from their wrists to their parents’ cellphones. According to Haas, a company called Gemalto manufactures the micro SIM card for Apple’s iPad.

Gemalto vice president Jean-Louis Carrara told PC Magazine that “Gemalto makes it possible for allcarriers worldwide to punch out a 3FF [micro] SIM…. [ Jobs] mentioned publicly that the [iPad] will be available in 60 days. A lot can happen in 60 days.”

So, is T-Mobile going to start busting out prepaid micro SIM data cards, giving iPad owners an internet-on-demand option?

Not so fast — there’s still the frequency problem. The iPad’s 3G frequencies are different than those used on T-Mobile’s network, so anyone using a T-Mobile SIM would be limited to the carrier’s slower 2G network. That would make your shiny, new iPad about as fast as a first-generation iPhone.

Still, a few people might take T-Mobile up on that possible offer, if only to poke AT&T in the eye. (T-Mobile did not give us an official response in time for this story.)

“The iPad, from what we know, operates in frequencies where T-Mobile does not have a 3G play, and therefore, if you had a micro SIM card [from T-Mobile], you would have to accept the fact that it would run at a somewhat less than optimal speed [than] for which it was designed,” said CTIA vice president of public affairs John Walls.

The largest rectangle represents a credit card; the smallest represents a micro SIM card (image courtesy of Professor Andreas Steffen of the Institute for Internet Technologies and Applications).

In order for the iPad to connect to T-Mobile’s faster 3G network — or, for that matter, Verizon’s CDMA-based 3G network — Apple would have to sell a variety of iPads for connecting to the various networks, each with its own type of 3G transmitter. Part of the problem here is that there are so many competing wireless standards in the United States, which isn’t Apple’s fault.

Hackers are sure to try the option of slicing the standard AT&T SIM card (15mm by 25 mm) down to the size of a micro SIM card  (12mm by 15 mm) and slapping it into the iPad. They’ll have to save the larger plastic outline to use as an adapter to make the cards work with their iPhones again, but that won’t stop people from trying.

“The connectors are the same … and it has the same thing inside … it’s just that the plastic is much smaller,” said Lok8u’s Haas, adding that SIM card manufacturers slice the same cards down to one size or the other depending on which one its client requests.

That iPad owners will likely consider taking a razor to the plastic SIM cards inside their iPhones, just so they can use the same portable data plan they’re already paying for, should tell you everything you need to know about the wireless data industry.

Today the Rebel Simcard Team got thier hands on the new iPhone 3G S model. The software and baseband is the same as the 3.0 OS launched for the iPhone 3G model.

The firmware isn’t out yet for the 3GS or 3.0 OS for iPhone 3G for the Rebel Simcard.

From our testing so far, we have found out that Apple have changed the simgate in the new iPhone 3G S, So it will no longer physically accept any No Cut Unlock simcard. So do not try to force it in as will get stuck.

Rebel are designing a new No Cut version of the Rebel of the Simcard, This will be released as soon as possible.

Still the good news is the current universal Rebel cut sim can still be used to insert it along with a network simcard.

The Rebel Simcard R&D Team are working on the unlocking solution for the iPhone 3G S model and iPhone 3.0 Firmware.
